GODLINESS REQUIRES CLARITY OF HOLY POSITION
Monday, September 21, 2015
Please read John chapter 7.
This morning I did so using ESV.
The word “godliness”
is used 15 times in KJV. It is however topically mentioned throughout
Scripture. But what does it mean?
We are to live in
holiness according to, centered in, the gospel scheme of life and death.
Jesus noticeably lived
holiness as opposed to religiosity. This was obvious in His manner and speech.
Jesus explained
that He did nothing of Himself; because He could not do anything of Himself.
All that Jesus did was of the Father.
And so it is to
be with us. Holy Jesus said to live holy we are to be like the Holy Father;
mature in thinking, character, and action. This is not as though tilting at
windmills. It is desire with motivation unto submission to the will and ways of
God.
This definitely
should include declarations as clearly stated as His. Jesus left no doubt as to
where he stood on life issues. (Mt.5:37)
Neutrality on
issues so as not to be known as against sin is evil, unholy, as it is unlike
the Father and Son!
Let us heed The
Word: Let the person who has ears listen to what the Spirit says to the
churches. "To the messenger of the church in Laodicea, write: The amen,
the witness who is faithful and true, the source of God's creation, says: I
know what you have done, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were
cold or hot. But since you are lukewarm and not hot or cold, I'm going to spit
you out of my mouth.” (GW Rev.3:13-16)
Godliness
requires clarity of holy position.
