RELIANT AND COMPLIANT
Proverbs [ESV]
3:5-7 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own
understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your
paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil.
Ecclesiastes 12:11-14
The words of the wise are like goads, and like nails firmly fixed are the
collected sayings; they are given by one Shepherd. My son, beware of anything
beyond these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is a
weariness of the flesh. The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and
keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring
every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.
Romans 12:1-2 I
appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your
bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your
spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the
renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God,
what is good and acceptable and perfect.
A healthy church
is populated with God’s sons and daughters that are at best reliant upon and in
compliance with God’s guidance. This being His Word living (Lord Jesus Christ)
and written (the Bible).
In practice what
does this mean?
When there is individual,
group, or congregation question, issue, or problem God’s family first of all
prayerfully searches His Word for direction. This includes study and
implementation of relevant Scripture and example. It may frequently require Biblical
repentance; to think differently according to God’s Word and act accordingly.
