2Timothy [TS2009] 2:15 Do your utmost to present
yourself approved to Elohim, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly
handling the Word of Truth.
As Biblically explained
in the previous Daily Thoughts, God’s John 1:12 children are “free indeed”. (Jn.8:32,
36; Jam.1:25; 2:12, 16, 19) But what of communion and baptism, don’t they come
under the heading of required rules, rites, and regulations?
No. Not at all.
Communion and
baptism are not to gain or maintain salvation and/or discipleship. They are the
result of salvation and discipleship. Put another way: Father God’s John 1:12
children do not have to do anything to be, for we already are!
Baptism being
public declaration with the order being baptizing disciples, not baptizing to
be disciples. Baptism is the public declaration of faith and discipleship. (Mt.28:19-20)
I like the way Gotquestions.org explains it as “Baptism by water is a
“reenactment” of the baptism by the Spirit.”
Communion being
memorialization. Communion is personally and corporately celebrating remembrance
of Lord Jesus Christ. It is done by Father God’s John 1:12 family because of
who we are in and with Jesus. (Lk.22:19) Remembrance: ἀνάμνησις; anamnēsis; an-am'-nay-sis; recollection: - remembrance (again).
If need be, please let contradictory religious
tradition go and accept the freeing truth of God’s Word. If not needed, let us
rejoice together in and because of the Word! (Jn.1:1; 2Tim.2:14-16; 3:16;
2Pet.1:20)
