AN OVERLOOKED FACT OF PRAYER
Thursday, March 13, 2014
Indeed God does
direct in response to prayer.
I believe that
there is however another aspect of prayer that is not much taken notice of and taught.
The basis for it
is first found where most basic theology is found, in the Book of Genesis: beginning
with Adam God leaves many decisions up to us.
This is not to
say however that ours is to be “The end justifies the means.” attitude operating
outside of His established clear boundaries. (Our choice of acceptable trees is
vast.)
Solomon was a
wise man. After much study he came to the conclusion that our whole obligation
is to reverence God and serve Him. (Eccl.12:13-14) This fact very much includes
free will; God often leaves decisions as our choice.
God had Adam to make
choices about flora and fauna, and I personally believe . . . about whether to
accept the first woman or not when He presented her. Adam exercised his opting,
embracing her as wife, and he called her Eve.
Consider others
thereafter as recorded in the Old Testament; God at times giving specific
answers, other times not as He left action to His follower.
Consider our Lord
instructing the first missionaries with WHAT TO but not all altogether WHERE
TO. (Mt.10:1-14; Lk.9:1-5; Mk.6:7-11 Villages and houses were not specified.)
Consider our WHAT
TO in Mark 16:15 but it is not with a great deal of detailed job description
beyond connected text on operating in the fruit of the Spirit as loving
ambassadors for Him.
Consider Paul as
he sometimes received specific directive from God, and other decisions were up
to him.
Considering the
above, how now shall we live? EBB4
