HOOFING OUR INVENTORY
Wednesday, June 04, 2014
Psalm 26:2 Examine me, O LORD,
and prove me; try my reins and my heart.
2Corinthians 13:5 Examine
yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your
own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
Romans 14:19 Let us therefore
follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may
edify another.
1Thessalonians 5:11 Wherefore
comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
Did you ever hear
about the government USDA directing their agents on how to take the most
accurate cattle and hog census? They were instructed to count hooves and divide
by 4. How did that work for the census takers? Picture low sight lines in
manure strewn feed lots and hog pens with herds moving about.
As Christians, followers
of Christ, we are to maintain a running inventory, and for good reason as we
can easily empty our shelves without replenishment. (Jer.2:13) We are not
however to make inventorying complicated, for doing so is spiritual hindrance
in itself.
One of our weak
or lacking areas is, wrapped up in self (Phil.3:8), not practicing edification;
the building of one another up.
So ….. I am
inviting the edification practitioners to share:
·
Why you developed the practice of edification.
·
How you developed the practice of edifying
others.
·
The way(s) you build others up.
·
Stories on how someone edified you.
·
How someone or a group edified you in a crucial
stressful moment.
·
How someone is currently edifying you.
·
How you would like to edify others.
·
Something else you’d like to contribute on the
need for edification.
Let’s exercise this
being a wonderful opportunity to edify one another. EBB4
