WORSHIP WHO?

1Corinthians
[ESV] 8:5-6 For although
there may be so-called gods in heaven or on earth—as indeed there are many
"gods" and many "lords"—yet for us there is one God, the
Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus
Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist. Eph 4:4 There
is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs
to your call—
Ephesians
4:5-6 one Lord, one faith,
one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in
all.
1Timothy
2:5-6 For there is one God,
and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave
himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.
James 2:19 You believe that God is one; you do well.
Even the demons believe—and shudder!
Considering the real meaning of worship, what
it involves and is indicated by, man has been worshipping something or some
being, mostly self, from earliest days. (Rom.12:1-3)
Stuff and individuals as objects of worship
have over time become layered in style, hype, romantics, visualizations,
mysticism, etc.
For me there is but one God, the Father, of
whom are all things, and I in Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all
things, and I by Him. (1Cor.8:6)
May I claim credit for scholarship on my part?
I cannot; for though God may involve person (For me it was primarily Aunt Edith
McGee and Bud Bond.) or thing such as provocative challenging literature (“Ten
Reasons Why I Believe The Bible Is The Word Of God”, William W. Orr); it was He
that drew me to Him. (Ps.14:2-3; Jn.12:32; http://www.gotquestions.org/find-God.html )
Nor can I claim any particular worth on my part in responding in agreement.
(Eph.2:8-9)
But even for the saint, the question is ever
before us: Exactly who is it that we are worshipping?; for God, Father, Son,
and Holy Spirit, have and continue to be by man including some believers,
layered in style, hype, romantics, visualizations, mysticism, etc. . . . things
that have tremendous appeal to our ignoble man apart from regenerate nobility.
(1Cor.2:16; 5:17; 1Jn.3:1-2)
So how do we trim away the ages of layering
plastering and painting God?
By reading and studying that which He wrote
about Himself, the Bible. EBB4
