Ecclesiastes
CEV 12:13-14 Everything you were taught can be put into a few words:
Respect and obey God! This is what life is all about. God will judge everything
we do, even what is done in secret, whether good or bad.
Zechariah 2:1-13 I looked up and saw
a man with a measuring line in his hand. I asked him, "Where are you
going?" He answered, "I am going to measure Jerusalem to see how wide
and how long it is." Then the angel who was speaking with me left. Another
angel came out to meet him and said to him, "Run, and say to that young
man, 'Jerusalem will be inhabited like an unwalled village because it will have
so many people and animals in it. I will be a wall of fire around it, declares
the LORD. I will be the glory within it.' "Hurry, hurry! Flee from the
land of the north, declares the LORD. I've scattered you to the four winds of
heaven. Hurry, Zion! Escape, you inhabitants of Babylon! This is what the LORD
of Armies says: Afterwards, the Glory sent me to the nations who looted you. Whoever
touches you [Israel] touches the apple of his eye. I'm going to shake my
fist at the nations, and their own slaves will loot them. Then you will know
that the LORD of Armies has sent me. Sing for joy and rejoice, people of Zion.
I'm going to come and live among you, declares the LORD. On that day many
nations will join the LORD and become my people. I will live among you. Then
you will know that the LORD of Armies has sent me to you. The LORD will claim
Judah as his own in the holy land and will again choose Jerusalem. "Everyone
be silent in the presence of the LORD. He is waking up and setting out from his
holy dwelling place." [Underlining mine.]
'If
the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more violence.
'If
the Jews put down their weapons today, there would be no more Israel' -Benjamin
Netanyahu.
Indeed the USA is a wonderful place to live!
In all of the concerns having to do with
fuel, energy, the economy, health care, taxation, war, nuclear threats of
various types, Iran, North Korea, China, food prices, employment, political
corruption, education, et al; there is one item that should be at the top of
the list, Israel.
Specifically, in God’s eyes what is the USA
political stance toward Israel?
Though I do not personally see the USA as a
“Christian nation” or that it ever was as such, though definitely founded on
and until recently greatly influenced by and functioning upon Christian
principles in many ways (2Chron.7:14 et al); and for this reason greatly
blessed of God, even when and as ungodly in so many ways; it must be understood
that there is another paramount reason for our blessedness.
Publicly and politically, in opposition to a
number of powerful USA leaders, some profoundly anti-Semitic, others fearful
that antagonizing the Arabs would disrupt our post WWII oil supplies, President
Harry S. Truman courageously recognized the State of Israel on May 14, 1948, 11
minutes after it declared itself a nation - Biblically a most wise thing done.
Believing that, though not flawlessly holy,
our national support has by and large been for Israel, a reason I believe we as
an imperfect people have been supremely blessed by God.
Can this change, withdrawing support for the
Jews? While Arabs and some others overtly *assault the Jew, will USA quietly stand
on the ungodly side of the red line and watch? Indeed it could happen!
“Jerusalem, we pray that you will have peace,
and that all will go well for those who love you.” (Ps.122:6) EBB4
PS.
“Christian” is only 2 times in Scripture. Act.26:28; 1Pet.4:16. It means “follower
of Christ”. Has, does the USA followed Christ? From colonial times until now
how do the nation’s leaders and populace decisions and actions align with
Christ as King? Other than during duress and crises asking God to bless or help
us in what we do or suffer, actually how often have we as a nation consulted
the Word for direction and accepted His guidance, and followed it?
