2:4 Behold, his soul which is
lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.
John
1:1-4, 14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and
the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made
by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life;
and the life was the light of men. … And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt
among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the
Father,) full of grace and truth. [Also note Gen.1:1, 26 “let us”; Col.1:15-17]
Romans
5:1-2 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through
our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace
wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Every person, past,
present, and future lives by faith: faith in self, person, people, ideology,
things.
I live by faith
in the Word, God Incarnate, Lord Jesus Christ, and His word passed on to man,
the Bible.
·
God Incarnate, the Word, Jesus (Jn.1:1, 14),
stated quite clearly that His word is paramount, and will not diminish or pass
away. “Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words
shall not pass away.“ (Mk.13:31)
·
Paul stated to Timothy, “… from a child thou
hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation
through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for
correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be
perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.“ (2Tim.3:15-16)
·
Peter affirmed “Being born again, not of
corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and
abideth for ever. For all flesh is as
grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth,
and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the Lord endureth for ever.
And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. “ (1Pet.1:23-25)
·
John, in
his epistle, repeated that which he affirmed in John chapter 1, “But whoso
keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we
that we are in him. … Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that
believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? This is he that came by water and
blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water
only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness,
because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear record in heaven,
the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there
are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood:
and these three agree in one. If we receive the witness of men, the witness of
God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his
Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that
believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record
that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us
eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not
life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son
of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on
the name of the Son of God.“ (1Jn.2:5; 5:5-13)
If you are not already doing so, I pray that too
will decide to live by faith in Jesus and His word.
