CAREERING ALONG
Tuesday, April 25, 2017
Like “bear”,
“careering” is another one of those odd words in our language.
Bear having to do
with burdening, including stress, someone easily annoyed, meriting further
investigation, a Wall Street condition, resemblance to, production including
childbirth, holding a particular thought, transport or transmission, plus indicating
a furry animal that we may cuddle or it may cuddle
us.
Not so humorously
illustrated by “As I did bear my heavy backpack, a humongous bear attacked me.
After a long stay in hospital and rehab, family and friends told me I did bear
the stress like a champion as I do not bear ill will toward that bear. They’re
surprised I’m not acting like a grouchy bear which they consider remarkable as
I went hiking to escape the stress of the present bear market. Also, do you
think I should I bear the news to everyone that the ranger told me that the
bear incident does bear further investigation?”
“Careering” in
its peculiarity means long-term or lifetime occupation, professional progress,
can also have to do with “piece of legislation whose career is rich with
conflicting amendments”. It also can mean rapid lurching or swaying, plus can
be inherently performing immoral and/or illegal acts. Intriguingly, for some
people it could mean all definitions at the same time.
How did I awake
with this line of thought? My often salad-bowl synapse activity? Is it
connected to the plaque (another multi-definition word) I was awarded for my
bent at segueing?
Or has it
something to do with my normal revving early morning mind recalling: “Love not
the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world,
the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of
the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the
Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof:
but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. (1Jn.2:15-17)
And this is where
my awakening thoughts abruptly ended, leaving me staring at this screen. Could
this mean that you are to, in Christian career, are to bear further excavation
(another funny word) and transmission with me?
Must be, for as a
delver my rummaging has presently momentarily expired.
EBB4 (Originally written 6/4/10. In spite of heart
stoppage and strokes since then, manner of minding is unaltered.)
PS. To some of you “nutty”, to others “My mind too!”
