LED ASTRAY BY MYTHS

2Timothy [GW] 4:3-4 A time will come when people will not
listen to accurate teachings [KJV “sound doctrine”}. Instead, they will follow
their own desires and surround themselves with teachers who tell them what they
want to hear. People will refuse to listen to the truth and turn to myths.
[Also note 2:15-19]
If we fail to
study God’s Word and see and accept the facts we live a cankered vulnerable life.
One favorite non-biblical
myth is the philosophy of the more you trust God the more your physical life
will be prosperous and secure. Studying the record in God’s Word reveals this
is typically not true. God’s record warns us of unrealistic expectations:
·
Jesus was
faithful above all others. His life and death?
·
The life and death of the faithful accounted for
in Old Testament and New?
·
The apostles?
·
Stephen?
·
Paul?
·
The record of the faithful in our contemporary
times?
·
Today’s
news reports?
·
Those of you presently or having been active Christians?
I’m not saying
that faithful people will definitely live a miserable life. What I’m saying is
we must be realistic. Jesus warned of the allusion. (Jn.15:17-21)
Paul warned. (Rom.8:16-18)
Observing Christians
with an unbiblical mythical philosophy saddens my heart when they become disillusioned
as a result of unrealistic expectations.
Fear not, but let
us be prepared lest we walk unsteadily. Living a godly life definitely requires
large doses of realism.

PS. All written exams I’ve taking show the same results.
I’m a realistic optimist. And you?
