THE EXPENSE OF BUSYNESS
It is no secret
that busyness interferes with relationships with family, friends, acquaintances,
and God.
Work, career,
networking, entertainment, exercise, health, education, hobbies, church
activities may detract or even subtract from peopling and/or God. The
Israelites did so: He saved them for His name's sake, to make His mighty power
known. And He rebuked the Red Sea, and it was dried up; so He led them through
the depths, as through the wilderness. And He saved them from the hand of the
hater, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. And the waters covered
their enemies; there was not one of them left. Then they believed His Words;
they sang His praise. They hurried and forgot His works; they did not wait for
His counsel; but they lusted greedily in the wilderness, and tested God in the
desert. And He gave them what they asked, but sent leanness into their soul. (MKJV
Ps.106:8-15)
I have done so at times, even at times when studying
Scripture and writing intensely. If we don’t take time to worship God we soon
forget what He has done and is doing!
O give thanks to
Jehovah, for He is good; for His mercy endures forever. Let the redeemed of
Jehovah say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy, … Oh that men
would praise Jehovah for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the sons
of man! For He satisfies the thirsty soul, and fills the hungry soul with good.
(Ps.107)
Beware busyness
enjoyable though it may or may not be.
