GOD’S GIFT

From the gospel of John [ESV]. Please invest time in
reading in context: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made
through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was
life, and the life was the light of men. … to all who did receive him, who believed in
his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of
blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. And the
Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of
the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. … [Jesus, the living
Word declaring] "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he
cannot see the kingdom of God." … as Moses lifted up the serpent in the
wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him
may have eternal life."For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For
God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that
the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned,
but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed
in the name of the only Son of God.
Our nation, the
USA, is an affluent society enabling the giving and receiving of many enjoyable
presents this holiday season. But how many of us understand that God’s exceedingly
greatest gift is offered to one and all? The current and eternal tragedy is
that there are individuals that will not receive His gift and remain condemned
now and forever.
I confess to
receiving God’s gift of present and eternal redemption.
What of you?
