THE SOURCE

1Corinthians 2:12-16 [GW] Now, we didn't receive the
spirit that belongs to the world. Instead, we received the Spirit who comes
from God so that we could know the things which God has freely given us. We
don't speak about these things using teachings that are based on intellectual
arguments like people do. Instead, we use the Spirit's teachings. We explain
spiritual things to those who have the Spirit. A person who isn't spiritual
doesn't accept the teachings of God's Spirit. He thinks they're nonsense. He
can't understand them because a person must be spiritual to evaluate them. Spiritual
people evaluate everything but are subject to no one's evaluation. "Who
has known the mind of the Lord so that he can teach him?" However, we have
the mind of Christ.
Has anyone ever blessed you with some variation of “The Source be with you!” or the
old way of wishing others “Good luck!”? There’s a Source teacher airing on PBS that
is drawing crowds in person and as viewers. As I watched the TV cameras scan the
auditorium I saw spellbound expressions, but not one skeptical countenance.
Everyone has a source they rely on for how they
see and act in life and react to life’s joys and trials, including death. For professing
Christians this should be centered in the Word of God, living (Jn.1:1, 14), and
written (Mt.4:4; 2Tim.3:16-17). The Bible should never ever be one of several in
a Christian’s kit!
