TWO AIMS: ONE TARGET

TWO AIMS: ONE TARGET

Matthew [ESV] 9:14-17 Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?” And Jesus said to them, “Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast. No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch tears away from the garment, and a worse tear is made. Neither is new wine put into old wineskins. If it is, the skins burst and the wine is spilled and the skins are destroyed. But new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved.” [Mk.2:19-22; Lk.5:37)

Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Jesus’s ministry while among men had, continues to have, two purposes with one target. Just as medical professional does; practicing both prevention and cure toward good health. Police do the same. At times you and I do this.

Jesus demonstrated the true purpose of the Law, all 613 of them – describing and demonstrating the new way of grace.
