Proverbs
[ESV today] 1:7, 22-23; 9:9-11 The fear of the LORD is the
beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. … How long, O
simple ones, will you love being simple? How long will scoffers delight in
their scoffing and fools hate knowledge? If you turn at my reproof, behold, I
will pour out my spirit to you; I will make my words known to you. … Give
instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man,
and he will increase in learning. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of
wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. For by me your days will
be multiplied, and years will be added to your life.
2Timothy
3:16-17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and
profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in
righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good
work.
Cafeteria styled Christianity
is Jefferson-like picking what to believe from God’s Word (Jn.1:1). As with
Thomas, it is a practice of exalting lesser self over Omniscient Sovereign
Jehovah God. Such selectivity is rejection of God’s complete
beneficial menu that includes submission, repentance, 1Corinthians 13 love and
else that is distasteful to our ego-centric self. It is a damming practice now
and forevermore.
By God, free will
is ours. Angel, Adam or Eve it is individual choice to decide for or against
His nourishment; sustenance whole in diet resulting in wellbeing present and
eternal.
Let us stop and
carefully take note of what’s on our tray every day in this day of salvation.
