HOPE DEFINED IS DEFINITE

HOPE DEFINED IS DEFINITE

Romans 10:9-14a
1Corinthians 13:13 And now faith, hope, charity, these three remain; but the greatest of these is charity.

“hope” is 130 times in 121 verses in God’s Word, KJV translation, 61 times in the NT, 69 in the OT.
In studying the verses using Strong’s Hebrew and Greek definitions: in connection with God’s redemption hope is a definite; it is not a possible “We hope so.”, or probable, but positively absolute!
Biblical hope is not the likelihood of eternal salvation. It is certainty of God’s redemption presently and indefinitely.
Which brings us to an important intrinsically connected word, believe.
Believe, as used in Romans 10: 9-13, John 3:15-18, Acts 16:31 and other Scripture having to do with salvation, means to completely trust in.
Relying on what God’s Word written (2Tim.3:16) and Living (Jn.1:1) says, I declare salvation hope is not a kinda sorta trusting in what God promises. It is the positive confident expectation in and by The Word, a matter that once was commonly referred to as “Blessed Assurance”.

Let it be understood that partial trust parallels limited hoping. Incomplete trust equals incomplete hope. Incomplete hope makes for incomplete assurance that affects the way we live. Incomplete assurance restricts us from the freedom that Jesus died for.  EBB4
