SACRED PERSONS ARE TO LIVE SACRAMENTAL LIVES

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he
power [G1849 ἐξουσία; exousia; ex-oo-see'-ah
From G1832
(in the sense of ability); privilege, that is, (subjectively) force,
capacity, competency, freedom, or (objectively) mastery
(concretely magistrate, superhuman, potentate, token
of control), delegated influence: - authority,
jurisdiction, liberty, power, right, strength. ] to become the sons of God, even
to them that believe on his name:
Romans chapter 4 … David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God
imputeth righteousness without works, Saying,
Blessed are they whose iniquities are
forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is
the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. Cometh
this blessedness then upon the circumcision only,
or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham
for righteousness. How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in
uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. And he received the
sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be
the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that
righteousness might be imputed unto them also: And the father of circumcision
to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of
that faith of our father Abraham, which he had
being yet uncircumcised. For the
promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was
not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness
of faith. For if they which are of the law be
heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: Because the law
worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is
no transgression. Therefore it is of
faith, that it might be by grace; to the
end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the
law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us
all, (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him
whom he believed, even God, who
quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many
nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being
not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about
an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb: He staggered not
at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory
to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also
to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Now it was
not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; But for us also, to
whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord
from the dead;
Romans 12:1-3 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the
mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable unto God, which is your
reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed
by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. For I
say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to
think of himself more highly than he
ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man
the measure of faith.
I am unworthy of
God’s redeeming love and grace, for I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,)
dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that
which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil
which I would not, that I do. (Personalized Rom.7:18-19) But in my believing
and trusting Him, God covered me with Christ’ righteousness; my present and
eternal inventory list is captioned with Jesus’ righteousness.
As a person in
God’s empowered John 1:12 family I am sacred. I can take no credit for this for
all I did at age 27 was agree with the Word and accept His redemption that
includes a son’s privilege and a measure of immediate and, if I continue to be
agreeable, increasing competency.
As I pointed out
yesterday, we are not to limit our understanding or action to adhering to a catalog
of sacramental things, we are to live a sacramental life.
Jesus explained
this, saying to all, “… If any man will come after me, let him deny himself,
and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life
shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall
save it. For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose
himself, or be cast away? For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words,
of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory,
and in his Father's, and of the holy angels.” (Lk.9:23-26; also note Mt.5:17)
Later, the
Apostle Paul wrote of this sacramental life, “Whether therefore ye eat, or
drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. ... And have put on the new man, which is
renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Where there is
neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian,
bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. Put on therefore, as the elect of
God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind,
meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if
any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And
above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And
let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in
one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all
wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual
songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in
word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and
the Father by him. ... not with
eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: And
whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing
that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve
the Lord Christ. But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he
hath done: and there is no respect of persons.” (1Cor.10:31; Col.3:10-25)
Not a numbered sacramental
list, but “whatsoever therefore”!
Then there’s word
sacramental echoing Romans 12:1-3; mental, sacred.
