GOD’S ASSIGNATION

And God created man in His image; in the image of God He created him. He created them male and female. And God blessed them. And God said to them, Be fruitful, and multiply and fill the earth, and subdue it. . . . And Jehovah God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called Woman because she was taken out of man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife and they shall be one flesh. And they were both naked, the man and his wife; and they were not ashamed. . . .   Beginning yesterday, Pastor got me to thinking about this topic of great importance to God and mankind when he pointed out the current overemphasis on same-sex marriage. This when Christians should be looking at their poor marital record; discord, infidelity, divorce.

  Pastor Paul won’t marry any couple that doesn’t first take marriage counseling sessions. Some say “No thank you.” and go elsewhere. Among those that do take, few participate in heart, but simply tolerate him leading the 6 sessions.  He now at times feels more like a Justice of the Peace.

  Pastor also spoke of sex in marriage (Heb.13:4), presenting 3 points: For procreation, for pleasure, for protection. (1Cor.7:4)

  God’s assignation “For procreation.” set me to looking for information on parental responsibilities as spelled out by God in His Word. I remembered reading the following list in Freedom Outpost and share it with you here:

·         Provision for children: 2 Corinthians 12:14; Proverbs 13:22; 1 Timothy 5:8; 2 Thessalonians 3:10-12.

·         Education and moral instruction of children: Proverbs 1:8-9, 6:20-21, 13:1, 22:6 & 23:19-22; Genesis 18:19; Deuteronomy 4:9-10 & 6:1-7; Ephesians 6:1-4; 2 Timothy 1:5 & 3:15-17.

·         Discipline of children: Proverbs 13: 24, 15:5, 19:18, 22:15, 23:12-14, 29:15-17; Hebrews 12:5-11; Colossians 3:21.

  Knowing how much time it will take you to look up and ponder the references above I must cease penning my morning thoughts lest I overload you with weight of my assignations beyond His. (Mt.11:29)
