HELLO!
Sunday, July 14, 20131Peter [ESV] 1:13-16 Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy." (Lev.11:44; 19:2; Rom.12:1-3)
How clear is the gospel call from lips and pen of Christians? At times not very: Is God calling everyone to be heterosexual, not steal, never murder, not commit adultery or fornication, never divorce, et al . . . or is His good news, the gospel, provision for and calling us to live holy?
Janie B. Chaney recently
wrote: “Sin is not primarily a matter of what we do but of who we are. We are liars,
idolaters, adulterers, hypocrites, perverts. That is why we lie (to ourselves
especially), worship the creature rather than the creator, stray from our true
lover, pretend righteousness we don’t have, and misuse God’s gifts to our own
selfish ends. But most of those sins can be hidden, even within the church. The
homosexual’s peculiar burden is that his sin cannot be hidden.” (June 1, 2013,
WORLD magazine, page 16, The heart of the matter.)
Let is consider
that which we call out most of all. EBB4
