Matthew
[MKJV] chapter 6:7 [Jesus explained] … when you pray, do not babble
vain words, as the nations. For they think that in their much speaking they
shall be heard. Therefore do not be like them, for your Father knows what
things you have need of, before you ask Him. Therefore pray in this way: Our
Father, who is in Heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come, Your will
be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give
us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we also forgive our
debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil. For
Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
Our congregation
again recently prayed the above prayer. Which once again set my cranial contents
to pondering “Thy will be done on earth as in heaven” means what?
My observation is
prayers hoping for or expecting healing, repair, reestablishment, rebuilding,
return; good results by hoper and expectee standards. And I certainly am often
of such ilk.
But doesn’t His
will include what Solomon noted in his Book of Ecclesiastes and Word O.T &
N.T. history recorded; Impairment, sickness, death, destruction, with economies,
nations, cultures, assemblies failing, scattered, even becoming extinct?
Once again I came
to the same conclusions;
·
God’s will observably includes both soar and
sink.
·
I am to accept inviolability of His is the
kingdom.
Trust!
