BROAD IS THE WRONG PATH
Proverbs [ESV] 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death. (Pr.16:25)
The following quote was posted on Facebook yesterday.
“Religious experience is a vitally (most important) important dimension of human experience of reality—that this dimension of human experience is integral to being whole human , what finally marks a human off as a human being from the rest of this planet’s life — that only when a person recognizes this dimension and orients his/her relation to it can a human being begin to achieve personal wholeness and fulfillment in relationships.” James Dunn
Sounds
wonderful, but is it true? Yes and no.
Yes, in
that religion may make for a better person.
No, in
there are, have been, very wicked religious people in this world.
But, as
a Christian, that is not my greatest concern about the teaching.
My greatest
concern is that it’s misleading as it is contrary to the Word of God. Whereas
the Word is clearly specific, the quote projects a universalist generality that
is the opposite of God’s Truth.
Lord
Jesus Christ, God Incarnate (Jn.1:1), warns against the broad way of mankind.
He declaring narrowly that He alone is the way, the truth, the life. No one can
come to the Father except through Him! (Jn.14:6)
