TITHING
2Corinthians [CEV] 9:7-8 Each of you must make up
your own mind about how much to give. But don't feel sorry that you must give
and don't feel that you are forced to give. God loves people who love to
give. God can bless you with everything you need, and you will always have
more than enough to do all kinds of good things for others.
Several years ago
my sister spent several minutes explaining to her pre-teen son why she tithed.
He decided that
if he could give one tenth of his allowance and get back even more, he would try
it. On Sunday he gave a tithe and was utterly amazed the very next day when a
birthday card from his grandmother arrived with money in it. He then and there decided that “tithing” is a
wise investment plan. His mother tried to convince him that such motive was not
the way it worked.
How childish we
Christians are when we give for all the wrong reasons.
