Deuteronomy [MKJV]
chapter 5 … be careful to do as Jehovah your God has commanded you. You shall
not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. You shall walk in all the ways
which Jehovah your God has commanded you so that you may live and that good may
be to you, and you may make your days longer in the land which you shall
possess.
Luke 11:34-36
[Jesus explained] The light of the body is the eye. Therefore when your eye is
sound, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is evil, your
body also is full of darkness. Therefore take heed that the light in you is not
darkness. Therefore if your whole body is full of light, having no part dark,
the whole shall be full of light, as when the shining of a lamp enlightens you.
While traveling
through life it’s very easy to lose focus by worrying about what going on
around us. Consider the following Pew Research survey on the religious beliefs
in USA Congress, individuals sworn in with their hand on various books; the
Bible, Jeffersonian bible, Quran, Buddhist sutra, Hindu Vedas, law books, State
constitutions. 250 of 252 Republicans identified as Christian, 2 being Jewish.
61 of the 282 Democrats don’t identify as Christians. 32 are Jewish. 3 are
Muslims. 3 are Hindus. 2 are Buddhists. 2 are Unitarian Universalists. 1 is “none”.
Among the professing Christians on both sides of the aisle, there is a mix of
denominational affiliations. And then there’s discordant covert and overt wheeling
and dealing. Throw in our pot stirring president and it’s easy to slip into
being possessed by worry . . . or being occupied with amusement.
As professing
followers of the John 14:6 Way, Truth, and Life we are to live undistracted
believing that Sovereign God knows all and rules. We see this in Old and New
Biblical record. Indeed in our physical sight things are chaotic, but we are to
see as God exemplifies in His Word, by His Son, and His Holy Spirit within us.
Let us trust Him,
for we are but sojourners before Jehovah God Almighty, as all our fathers were:
our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is no permanence here.
(1Chron.29:15) All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of men as the flower of
the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls out, but the Word of the
Lord endures forever. And this is the Word preached as gospel to you. (Jam.1:24-25)
