WE ARE A SOUL

“I
have a question for you about the dead in Christ will be raised first and to
die in the Lord is to be present with the Lord (immediately). It a
friendly conversation I’m having with a close friend. … reading FBC Growth Guide in 1 Thess. 4 & 5 this morning,
I was reminded of our recent conversation about our status after death.
The apostle Paul twice wrote about being absent from the body is to be present
with the Lord. Since that seems to be quite clear, then what does it mean
in 1 Thessalonians 4:16 where it is again written by Paul, “………And the dead in
Christ will rise first.”???” VS
Jn.5:28-29; 1Cor.25:51-54;
2Cor.5:8; Rev.20:11-15
Again, as young man Fred Gilmour taught me, “Most
if not all basic theology is established in the first chapters of
Genesis.” On today’s question asked by VS, consider “And the LORD God formed
man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of
life; and man became a living soul.” (Gen.2:7)
C.S. Lewis commented that we don’t have a
soul. We have a body. We are a soul. This is explained in 2Cor.5:8; when
followers of Christ die they are absent from the body and present with
the Lord.
I think of it as being natural that the Lord
reverses the process. J
