CREDITING WISDOM
Isaiah [ESV] 46:9-10 remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’ [Also note Ps.139:1-4;Mt.12:25;Mk.2:5-8;Lk.6:8;Jn.4:18;11:11-15; Acts 1:24;1Jn.3:20]
This past week in
reading I’ve read beneficial wisdom shared by Warren Buffet, Steve Jobs, and
Elon Musk having to do with time management; when to say no.
But can we as God’s
John 1:12 authorized and endowed sons and daughters trust wisdom from such worldly
unregenerate people?
Yes, we can. For
though they do not or may not credit the All-wise One as the source, when
wisdom is Biblically sound it is no different than sound perceptive insight
delivered by a Biblically sage follower of Christ.
Indeed there are
wise others, but crediting other than God as the sole source of wisdom is
something that should not be a part of Christian mindset. This includes getting
ensnared by spell-binding preachers.
“… evil people and impostors will go
on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you,
continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom
you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the
sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in
Christ Jesus.
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for
teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that
the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” (2Tim.3:13-17)
