DECISION MAKING AND THE WILL OF GOD: Covidizing Commandments
Mark [ESV] 8:34 And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he [Jesus] said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?
Christian and
non-Christian continue to covidize God’s 1st & 2nd
commandments; divisively setting aside His will that we should love Him / love
others.
COVID prevention
has been elevated to the level of a sacred value wrecking marketplaces.
Collateral damage
is ubiquitous. Deaths and illness physical and emotional due to restrictions
imposed or personally embraced. Abstaining from medical examination or
treatment. Abuses of power. Economic suffering and losses. Lack of respect for
individual choices. Shaming and shunning, and even moral condemnation. Public
altercations. Political grasping gymnastics. Advantage seized. Status vanished.
Lives adrift. Careers advanced. Careers lost. And let’s not forget the instilling
of communal fear.
Together let us again
review God’s will summarized: … [Jesus said] You shall love the Lord your God with all your
heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and
great commandment. And the second is like it,
You shall love your neighbor as yourself…. (MKJV Mt.22:34-40)
And if and as needed, we exercise application
anew. And let us forget not that COVID presents opportunities to actively share
God’s love. (Mt.25:31-46)
