THE SHIELD OF
FAITH IN THE MIDST OF STRUGGLES
Ephesians [MKJV] 6:10-18 Finally, my brothers, be
strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor
of God so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For
we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the world's rulers, of the darkness of this age, against
spiritual wickedness in high places. Therefore take to yourselves the
whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and
having done all, to stand. Therefore stand, having your loins girded about
with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness and your feet
shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Above all, take the
shield of faith, with which you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of
the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit,
which is the Word of God, praying always with all prayer and supplication
in the Spirit, and watching to this very thing with all perseverance and
supplication for all saints.
“People today are being swamped with a multitude
of worries and cares. The remedies the world offers are oftentimes worse than
the original problems themselves (as we saw with Covid). And the media is swift
to bring all this to our door. We, as Christians, are affected by these things,
and it is a temptation to put our focus on the challenges and trials. While the
real solution lies in allowing Jesus to be the center of our lives through His
Word and His Spirit. For many though, God has been excluded from their lives so
all that is left is left, like Solomon, is ‘” vanity and vexation of spirit.’”
