GOD DELIVERED NOAH

GOD DELIVERED NOAH
Wednesday, September 21, 2016

Genesis chapters 5-10; Num.26:33; 27:1; 36:11; Jos.17:3; 1Chron.1:4; Isa.54:9; Eze.14:14, 20; Heb.11:7; 1Pet.3:20; 2Pet.2:5
Matthew [ESV] 6:9-15 [Jesus taught] Pray then like this: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
James 4:1-10 What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.  Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, "He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us"? But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble." Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.
1Peter 5:6-8 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties [distracting solicitudes] on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

God can deliver us. The problem for many Christians is the expectation of an unusual skyfall miracle apart from their disagreeable noncompliant resistance. Indeed He does such miracles, but in the record of His Word they are on the short list. We must never assume that our will and purpose trumps His will in purpose. God’s only begotten Son, Jesus, is our ultimate example of this. (Jn.5:30; 6:38; Act 13:22; Lk.22:39-46)
Noah is a prime human example to study, learn from, and to definitely imitate.

·         God’s cataclysmic destroying flood was never seen before or since.
·         God gave Noah practical instructions for his and family deliverance.
·         God’s deliverance instructions required 120 years of patient compliant expensive labor. Noah, though he understood little or nothing of it, agreed with God’s overarching plan of restarting civilization.
·         The same waters that drown the many lifted God’s select few.

Moving forward in time to the New Testament record, let us not think Jesus was only teaching a prayer, how to pray. He was very much teaching how to live, including on the question of deliverance: If we are not compliant in humbling ourselves to forgive others, the Father will not forgive us. James and Peter later make comment that pertains to deliverance.
God’s deliverance may be at the end of a staff, but it is seldom so. God’s deliverance typically involves Matthew 16:24 compliance with humility, risk (leaving comfort zones for one), labor and investment on our part as individual, family, community, or nation. The local congregation that we claim membership in is not above this requirement.  Tragically they are too often below it.

ETERNAL SALVATION; HE CAN; HE WILL, IF

ETERNAL SALVATION: HE CAN; HE WILL, IF
Tuesday, September 20, 2016

Eternal salvation as present spiritual possession and future physical position is something God definitely can and will do. There is however one condition we must individually personally meet; a condition that has absolutely nothing to do with personal goodness or works. (Eph.2:8-9) Jesus met and fulfilled every condition pleasing His Father. Our one condition to realize eternal life that includes real-time John 1:12 family life is the condition of acceptant compliance in agreeing with God; taking Him at His Word, trusting Him as Redeemer unto everlasting life.
Jesus, the only begotten child of God, explained this to Nicodemus, a learned man, member of the national council, for his benefit and all others in latter times: "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." Nicodemus said to him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. “ (ESV John chapter 3, as ever, please read in complete context in language of your preference.)
And what exactly does this compliant trust unto eternal life mean? The word “believe” is several times in John 3, the Greek meaning: πιστεύω; pisteuō; pist-yoo'-o From G4102; to have faith (in, upon, or with respect to, a person or thing), that is, credit; by implication to entrust (especially one’s spiritual well being to Christ): - believe (-r), commit (to trust), put in trust with.
Yes, when it comes to eternal salvation God can and does fully accomplish . . . if we as individuals meet His condition of entrusting our spiritual well-being to Christ.
Tomorrow we take a look at God’s will in Noah and his family physical deliverance. Until then, let us serve Him all our remaining days this side of the grave.

HE CAN BUT WILL HE?

HE CAN BUT WILL HE?

Exodus 3:14-15 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.
Job 42:1-2  Then Job answered the LORD, and said, I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.
Revelation1:8, 11; 21:6; 22:13  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the
Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. … I am Alpha and
Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the
seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and
unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.I am Alpha and
Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the
water of life freely.I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the
       last.

Of the 2 questions put forward In Friday’s DT, SOUND DOCTRINE, Can God deliver you? is the least complex to answer. Yes, He being Sovereign Jehovah God Almighty, the great omnipotent, He certainly can.
The question of Will deliver you? in each and every instance simply by expecting Him to do so is a different scenario.
Now, please do thoroughly ponder and digest the first question and answer while patiently awaiting explanation addressing the second question.

TWO RESPONDERS TO QUESTIONS

One of our ongoing 2Timothy 2:15 labors is searching out and applying sound doctrine.
Recently in listening to a Christian music group I noticed their matching shirts emblazoned with “God can . . . and will deliver you”.
Is this public statement sound doctrine?
Your workman’s responses will be published Sunday.

If you want sound doctrine on deliverance from suffering you must study the life of our saints; "who are watching you from the bleachers and cheering you on."  Many of them had terrible lives of suffering followed by dying a horrific death.
Our first martyr was Stephen, who was stoned to death.  Then there was Saint Peter and Paul, plus too many to list.  More recently, would be the life of Joan of Arc.  She was imprisoned, then tormented by relentless requests by her captors to deny she seen messengers from God.  They decided she was hearing from demons, thus sentenced her to be burned at the stake.  After they lit the fire, she asked someone to remove a cross from a wall and hold it up to her at eye level.  God did not deliver her from it, but somehow got her through her horrific death.
As some of you know, I was molested for years by a neighbor boy.  I remember hiding from him in our hayloft.  I was scared he would find me, because I was breathing so hard!  For years after that I have suffered with anxiety/depression, which manifested with an eating disorder.  I wanted to disappear!  I hated it.  As a teenager, it brought my family shame and showed weakness, so I hid it in Jesus, by trusting Him and His Church.
I was taught in our church to bring my sins to Jesus, via repentance and the Sacrament of Holy Communion.  As I ate His true body and drank His blood (which was poured out for me) I became more like Him and less like me!
As an adult, I thank God for His Son, who showed us how to experienced suffering and death.  His sacrifice....and willingness to die for me, has drawn me closer to Him.  "When I am weak, He [who is in me] is strong!"  Whenever, I am going through something that seems unbearable, I thank God, minute to minute, for this Son, because living in Jesus is based on our trust in Him.
One of my favorite songs is, Trust In You, by Lauren Daigle.  If you have time, watch it on YouTube:  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=n_aVFVveJNs.   Enjoy!
Love In Christ,

Yes...IF the person being spoken to has first trusted in God, sought Him, turned to Him for help.
Otherwise God loves us enough to leave us to experience the result of our own choices.
"Ifs" can't be ignored.
All below verses given in ESV, highlighting added.
(Of course this depends on our definition of deliverance.  Sometimes God's way of deliverance happens when He leaves us to struggle, at least for a time.  I'm defining deliverance here in an eternal and Biblical peace-based sense, not necessarily deliverance from troubling circumstances.)

Psalm 34:17
When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.
Psalm 107:6
Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them from their distress.
Psalm 50:15
And call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”
Psalm 34:4
I sought the Lord, and He answered me and delivered me from all my fears.
Psalm 37:4
Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.
John 15:7
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
2 Chronicles 7:14
If My people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
James 4:7
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Romans 1:24
Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves...
Psalm 14:1-3
The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”  They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.
The Lord looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there is any who understand, any who seek God.
All have turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

SOUND DOCTRINE?

SOUND DOCTRINE?
Friday, September 16, 2016

2Timothy [MKJV] chapter 2 … faithful is the Word, for if we died with Him, we shall also live with Him. If we suffer, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. If we do not believe Him, yet He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself. Put them in memory of these things, charging them before the Lord not to dispute about words to no profit, to the subverting of the hearers. Study earnestly to present yourself approved to God, a workman that does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth. But shun profane, vain babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. And their word will eat like a gangrene;…
2Timothy 4:1-4 Therefore I solemnly witness before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who is going to judge the living and the dead according to His appearance and His kingdom, preach the Word, be instant in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine. For a time will be when they will not endure sound doctrine, but they will heap up teachers to themselves according to their own lusts, tickling the ear. And they will turn away their ears from the truth and will be turned to myths.

SELF REMINDERS

SELF REMINDERS
Thursday, September 15, 2016

Grandmother McGee would tie a bit sting (From the “save drawer” around her figure so as not to forget something. I enjoyed a female coworker using a rubber band around her wrist and snapping it from time to time to stimulate her memory. And then there were the dozens saying “remind me later to …..” Did they do the job beyond numb thumb, sore derma, a person to blame-shift to? What do you think?
God uses none of the above self helps. He does so in and by His indwelling Holy Spirit. Reviewing past Daily Thoughts (DT) is one the exercises for me, for I too easily forget.
This morning I complied to His nudging, and now do share . . . knowing that possibly you too need reminding.

A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE
Monday, August 04, 2014

The following is written from notes taken and thoughts provoked during Pastor Paul Marine’s Sunday sermon.

Psalm [MKJV] 103:1-22 A Psalm of David. Bless Jehovah, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name. …
Deuteronomy [MKJV] 30:19-20  I call Heaven and earth to record today against you. I have set
before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Therefore, choose life, so that both you and your
seed may live, so that you may love Jehovah your God, and that you may obey His voice, and that you
may cling to Him. For He is your life and the length of your days, so that you may dwell in the land which
Jehovah swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give it to them.

There is a considerable difference between praising and blessing. If we bless we typically also praise. We however can and do at times praise without blessing.
Praise is words, heartfelt appreciation. It is done verbally and/or written in sentence and/or song.
Blessing is mental study with therein serious meditation producing decisiveness leading to physical action, the mental commonly being laziest at in implementation. (How often do we even bother to look up His Word verses referred to in devotionals, essays, books?)
To illustrate distinction: An individual appreciates their rural community and does not hesitate to say so at every opportunity. Another individual appreciates the same community, often says so, but goes beyond praise, studies and qualifies as an EMT so as to serve as an unpaid member of ambulance crew of community VFD (volunteer fire dept).
Again, we may praise, but without actually blessing in Biblical sense, especially not as does God.
When God praises, it is when a person or people have blessed Him.
Another side of this is when we refuse to bless God. Not doing so we very much live under His general curse brought upon us by Adam refusing to bless God. (Gen.3; Ex.20:1-6; Deut.4:24 [Heb.12:28-29]; Ps.81:9-12; Jn.3:16-18; Jam.4:4-6)
After Pastor’s sermon I am left with the examining question “Am I singing better than I’m sojourning?”  EBB4

VOTING IN GOOD CONSCIENCE?

VOTING IN GOOD CONSCIENCE?
Wednesday, September 14, 2016

Matthew [MKJV] 5:13-16 You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt loses its savor, with what shall it be salted? It is no longer good for anything, but to be thrown out and to be trodden underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under the grain-measure, but on a lampstand. And it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in Heaven.
Romans 13:1-2 Let every soul be subject to the higher authorities. For there is no authority but of God; the authorities that exist are ordained by God. So that the one resisting the authority resists the ordinance of God; and the ones who resist will receive judgment to themselves.

Living in this USA is a great privilege, howbeit privilege with responsibility large, not the least of which may be wounding or dying to maintain status of our republic. And then there’s voting, quite a quandary for many, including 40 million (Barna stats) evangelicals that opted out of voting at all in the last presidential election even though they could have played a part in deciding the outcome.
This Christian has voted every election, local and national, with the exception of one due to circumstance not decision. Prior to my John 3:3 rebirth voting was commonly via bone-headed bias. After age 27 it entailed the issue of good conscience as a Bible believing Christian . . . not always so simple as “Vote for David, he’s God’s obviously anointed.” Voting responsibly before God is a weighty business, for some an onus tipping them far from polling place.
First understand that as influential “salt and light” we are to vote. This is the Word without question.
Secondly, deciding who and what to vote for may be often a quandary. This I know and have repeatedly experienced for 53+ years. Deciding requires study, contemplation, and definitely prayer.
Thirdly, bringing me to the larger matter of participation: God ultimately deciding outcomes. For us as His empowered John 1:12 family the question being whether we are striving to be in accord, or not, with Christ building his church – is our participation absolutely addressing the problem of aligning with the will of God??
Fourthly, in deciding we as followers of Christ must very much consider the fact “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by Me.“ (Jn.14:6)
And last thought for this morning, then there was Jehovah God anointed pagan King Cyrus that He referred to as “… my shepherd and will accomplish all that I please” (Isaiah 44:28).
I leave you thinking on these things and more as polling day rapidly approaches.
