SUCCESSFUL PARENTING

SUCCESSFUL PARENTING
Tuesday, July 09, 2013

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. (KJV Mt.6:9-13)

What is the measure of a successful parent? What constitutes an unsuccessful parent? “The children.” is the common answer to both questions. Though once upon time I believed this measure, as I studied Gods Standard and Story, I came to disagree.

If the children are the measure of successful parenting, then the Foremost Father beginning with first-children Adam and Eve and many since is an unsuccessful parent. He was not unsuccessful. He is eternally the epitome of success.

God’s assignation of privilege, responsibility, prohibition was not secret in Eden and continues to be plainly stated and our succession is unchanged; always an absolute matter of exercising freewill in accord with or opposed to His will.

The measure of a successful parent is how faithful we are before God. How the children turn out is a matter of their also exercising freewill in relating to God’s will.

Every person has the option to elect or reject or neglect godly education and application of His knowledge, gifts, talents provided.

For example, yesterday I published a list of God’s will for parents contained in His Word.

·         Provision for children: 2 Corinthians 12:14; Proverbs 13:22; 1 Timothy 5:8; 2 Thessalonians 3:10-12.

·         Education and moral instruction of children: Proverbs 1:8-9, 6:20-21, 13:1, 22:6 & 23:19-22; Genesis 18:19; Deuteronomy 4:9-10 & 6:1-9; Ephesians 6:1-4; 2 Timothy 1:5 & 3:15-17.

·         Discipline of children: Proverbs 13: 24, 15:5, 19:18, 22:15, 23:12-14, 29:15-17; Hebrews 12:5-11; Colossians 3:21.

If we elect to not bother reading God’s Word and ponder application and actively practicing to the best of our ability, we’re failing. This isn’t truth pertaining only to successful parenting. It individually applies to living successfully by His will in every appointment in this life. (2Tim.2:15-16; 3:16-17) EBB4
