STANDARD?

STANDARD?
Tuesday, November 22, 2016

John 17:17 [Jesus prayed] Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

For all you youngsters out there, did you know that until recently that stick-shift (Vertical rod on floor or horizontal one on steering column that must be repositioned in coordination with pushing and releasing clutch pedal on floor in order to change gears from low to high and back again.) was always referred to by dealers and drivers as “Standard transmission”? By a decade ago, though still the nomenclature, it had become a half-truth. By early next year it will be quarter-truth and likely dropped from automotive lexicon and relegated to historical accounts. But so far as the big picture called life, it matters little or naught beyond old coots boasting that they learned to drive on stick shift. (Did I ever tell you that my Dad insisted I first accomplish smooth grind-less shifting of non-synchromesh stick in our 1 ½ ton stake body truck before I was allowed to drive his Rocket 88 Olds?)
There is however truth that is 100% truth; the eternal standard, the Word of God (Logos). Though it is God’s absolute standard, and is so with the citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven, it is less applicably so than ever before in this republic, these United States of America. In stating this I need not list proof for reviewing our nation’s history and for those of us that have lived for many decades here, it is obvious. I speak not of just Christians, for atheists and agnostics attest to, even applauding this past and current trend.
Also, have we not heard or at least noticed a new standard to American vocabulary: Post-Christian. A term that describes today’s USA society well, but shall never be classification for those of us living in Sovereign Jehovah God’s blessed assurance; sanctified in and by His standard . . . “… knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, silver or gold, from your vain manner of life handed down from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot; indeed having been foreknown before the foundation of the world, but revealed in the last times for you, those believing in God through Him, He who raised Him up from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope might be in God. Purifying your souls in the obedience of the truth through the Spirit to unfeigned love of the brothers, love one another fervently out of a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the living Word of God, and abiding forever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of men as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls out, but the Word of the Lord endures forever. And this is the Word preached as gospel to you.” (MKJV 1Pet.1:18-25)
