DECISION MAKING AND THE WILL OF GOD: Standardized Testing
Prior to trusting
Lord Jesus Christ and rebirth (Jn.3:1-21) we walked in darkness and could not clearly
see matters pertaining to His kingdom. Prior to personally being born-again,
religious* though we were, we didn’t have enlightened discernment nor the
ability to please God. (Rom.12:1-3; Eph.5:8-10)
We are not left
with our own old olio of discernments. We have the standards of God’s Word, the
first two commandments being the basic measure in all decisions. However, no
fault of God, but our bumbling bubbling emotions may still confuse us. For
these passionate <> impassive affecting times, God has not left us in
stumble in dire straits.
June Hunt, whose 96 page Biblically topical books I recommend, lists 8 plainly stated tests.
1. Scriptural Test. Has God already spoken about it in
His Word? Examples: 2Cor.6:14; 2Tim.3:16.
2. Secrecy Test. Would it bother me if everyone knew this
was my choice? Example: Pr.11:3.
3. Survey Test. What if everyone followed my example? Example:
1Tim.4:12.
4. Spirit Test. Am I being people-pressured or
Spirit-led.? Example: Gal.1:10.
5. Stumbling Test. Could this decision result in others
stumbling? Example: Rom.14:21.
6. Serenity Test. Have I prayed and received peace about
this decision? Example: Phil.4:6-7.
7. Sanctification Test. Will this decision hinder me from
growing in Christ? Example: 2Cor.3:18.
8. Supreme Test. Does this decision glorify God? Example: 1Cor.3:18.
As John 1:12
authorized children of God let us walk far from the path of spiritual
immaturity centered in egotistical living. Our daily journey is to be on the
challenging Way. (Jn.14:6)

PS. A most edifying endeavor is Biblically cross referencing
all test example Scriptures given.
