GOD’S NAMES
Psalm 68:1-4 Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered:
let them also that hate him flee before him.
As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God. But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice. Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.
When reading God’s Word and I see a name for Him
I run for my Bible Concordance. In the above verse 4 “Jah” is Hebrew for “the sacred name: - Jah, the Lord, most
vehement.”
This makes me think of the year I owned and operated
a small bakery in Carthage. As Christmas approached I realized I didn’t have
room for a tree and wondered what to do.
I purchased a large sheet of heavy poster
board and drew the outline of a Cedar tree in dark green. Inside the outline,
using more green ink, I wrote every name I could think of for the Persons of
the Trinity. I then invited visitors to contribute any name(s) they could think
of that were not already listed.
Each name had to include the Scripture
reference. I have since forgotten how many names we came up with, but it was an
amazing how many and how interested people were.
It was a wonderful way to share Christmas
with many people.
