DECISION MAKING AND THE WILL OF GOD: Being the Bug in the Balm

Jeremiah [ESV] 8:22 Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? [Also note 22:6]

  I haven’t heard the traditional African American spiritual, There is a Balm in Gilead, sung for over 50 years. The blessedness of the message still stirs my mind and heart, soothing body and soul. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/There_Is_a_Balm_in_Gilead)

  Optimal health in all ways is God’s will. However, our bugs can adulterate His freely provided balm. And what might those fouling bugs be?

·         Perfectionism by our measure.

·         Stumbling over self-worth issues.

·         Fear of failure.

·         Lack of kingdom goals.

·         Dedication to national patriotism displacing our paramount citizenship in heaven.

·         Overwhelmed; allowing feelings over Biblical facts.

  Beware of our bugs in the balm.
