ETERNAL SECURITY: THE SECURITY PART

ETERNAL SECURITY: THE SECURITY PART

How is the Christian secured? By Him alone. We contribute nothing to our eternal security. In trusting obedient discipleship, or the lack thereof, we do however play the major part in our sense (emotions) of eternal security. As ever, being secure and feeling secure are two distinctly different life areas.

·         MADE ALIVE

Ephesians 2:1-10 And you hath he quickened [made alive], who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Colossians 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
1Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

·         SEALED; PRESERVED; KEPT ALIVE

2Corinthians 1:20-22 Certainly, Christ made God's many promises come true. For that reason, because of our message, people also honor God by saying, "Amen!" 21 God establishes us, together with you, in a relationship with Christ. He has also anointed us. 22 In addition, he has put his seal of ownership on us and has given us the Spirit as his guarantee.
Ephesians  1:1-14 GW From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by God's will. To God's holy and faithful people who are united with Christ in the city of Ephesus. 2 Good will and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ are yours! 3 Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! Through Christ, God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing that heaven has to offer. 4 Before the creation of the world, he chose us through Christ to be holy and perfect in his presence. 5 Because of his love he had already decided to adopt us through Jesus Christ. He freely chose to do this 6 so that the kindness he had given us in his dear Son would be praised and given glory. 7 Through the blood of his Son, we are set free from our sins. God forgives our failures because of his overflowing kindness. 8 He poured out his kindness by giving us every kind of wisdom and insight 9 when he revealed the mystery of his plan to us. He had decided to do this through Christ. 10 He planned to bring all of history to its goal in Christ. Then Christ would be the head of everything in heaven and on earth. 11 God also decided ahead of time to choose us through Christ according to his plan, which makes everything work the way he intends. 12 He planned all of this so that we who had already focused our hope on Christ would praise him and give him glory. 13 You heard and believed the message of truth, the Good News that he has saved you. In him you were sealed with the Holy Spirit whom he promised. 14 This Holy Spirit is the guarantee that we will receive our inheritance. We have this guarantee until we are set free to belong to him. God receives praise and glory for this.
Ephesians 4:17-32 GW So I tell you and encourage you in the Lord's name not to live any longer like other people in the world. Their minds are set on worthless things. 18 They can't understand because they are in the dark. They are excluded from the life that God approves of because of their ignorance and stubbornness. 19 Since they no longer have any sense of shame, they have become promiscuous. They practice every kind of sexual perversion with a constant desire for more. 20 But that is not what you learned from Christ's teachings. 21 You have certainly heard his message and have been taught his ways. The truth is in Jesus. 22 You were taught to change the way you were living. The person you used to be will ruin you through desires that deceive you. 23 However, you were taught to have a new attitude.
24 You were also taught to become a new person created to be like God, truly righteous and holy. 25 So then, get rid of lies. Speak the truth to each other, because we are all members of the same body. 26 Be angry without sinning. Don't go to bed angry. 27 Don't give the devil any opportunity to work. 28 Thieves must quit stealing and, instead, they must work hard. They should do something good with their hands so that they'll have something to share with those in need. 29 Don't say anything that would hurt another person. Instead, speak only what is good so that you can give help wherever it is needed. That way, what you say will help those who hear you. 30 Don't give God's Holy Spirit any reason to be upset with you. He has put his seal on you for the day you will be set free from the world of sin. 31 Get rid of your bitterness, hot tempers, anger, loud quarreling, cursing, and hatred. 32 Be kind to each other, sympathetic, forgiving each other as God has forgiven you through Christ.

·         THE HAND OF THE ALMIGHTY; HE HOLDS YOU; YOU DON”T HOLD HIM

John MKJV 10:27-30 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give to them eternal life, and they shall never ever perish, and not anyone shall pluck them out of My hand. 29 My Father who gave them to me is greater than all, and no one is able to pluck them out of My Father's hand. 30 I and the Father are one!

·         UNCONFESSED SIN THWARTS PERFECT LOVE; RESULTING IN FEELING INSECURE

2Corinthians MKJV 13:11 Finally, brothers, rejoice. Perfect yourselves; encourage yourselves; mind the same thing; be at peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.
1John 1:4-10 GW We are writing this so that we can be completely filled with joy. 5 This is the message we heard from Christ and are reporting to you: God is light, and there isn't any darkness in him. 6 If we say, "We have a relationship with God" and yet live in the dark, we're lying. We aren't being truthful. 7 But if we live in the light in the same way that God is in the light, we have a relationship with each other. And the blood of his Son Jesus cleanses us from every sin. 8 If we say, "We aren't sinful" we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 God is faithful and reliable. If we confess our sins, he forgives them and cleanses us from everything we've done wrong. 10 If we say, "We have never sinned," we turn God into a liar and his Word is not in us.
1John MKJV 4:1-18 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but try the spirits to see if they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God; 3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the antichrist you heard is coming, and even now is already in the world. 4 You are of God, little children, and you have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 5 They are of the world, therefore they speak of the world, and the world hears them. 6 We are of God. He who knows God hears us. The one who is not of God does not hear us. From this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. 7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God, and everyone who loves has been born of God, and knows God. 8 The one who does not love has not known God. For God is love. 9 In this the love of God was revealed in us, because God sent His only begotten Son into the world that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation concerning our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwells in us, and His love is perfected in us. 13 By this we know that we dwell in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 Whoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God has in us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. 17 In this is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, that as He is, so also we are in this world. 18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has torment. He who fears has not been perfected in love.
