FILLING A COLANDER

FILLING A COLANDER

I have read the Bible through at least once a year for many years and admit there are times when I read passages like Genesis 5:1-32 that I’m tempted to skim over and go on.
They make me think of the little boy who told his mother it wouldn’t do him any good to memorize Bible verses because he couldn’t remember them very long. His mother gave him a colander she had been using and told him to fill it with water. He tried, but finally told her it wasn’t any use because the thing is full of holes and won’t hold water. She said “Yes, son, but look how clean it is now. This is how your heart and mind will be if you keep filling it with God’s Word.”
