JUDGING AS A WATCHMAN

 JUDGING AS A WATCHMAN

Isaiah 21:6  For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth.

Ezekial 33:6 if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.

Things change. Today our keen-eyed men on towers are satellites and other gizmos.

The Word of God does not change.

Men were, whether prophet or soldier, watchmen then; are now us.

God and His penman warn us of dangers, some unseen to the natural human eye. (Eph.6:12) This includes wolves in sheep’s clothing. (Mt.7:15; 10:16)

As God’s last apostle, Paul was a diligent watchman. As we read his epistles, we see that he named names fearlessly. This practice today, in the name of love, is drawn back from by far too many Christian leaders and layman. I refuse to be one of that number, preferring to follow Paul’s example whether in Philippians 4:13 et al or 2Timothy 2:17 as such.

Being a diligent watchman takes work with the heart of a dove and the hide of a rhinoceros. This I have learned as has any bell ringer or whistleblower. And because of Christian culture in flux including new perspectives, de-constructors, “ex-Christians”, and the usual pack of wolves, being a watchman remains a diligent work.

We are called to leave the comfy den at the foot of the watchtower. To aid in doing so I share some of my trustworthy resources: GotQuestions.org, The Berean Call, Lighthouse Trails Research Journal. I read these on a regular basis, but also sometimes type in a name or topic searching for information. (Most recently “akiane”.)
