Proverbs [GW] 4:23-24
Guard your heart more than anything else, because the source of your
life flows from it. Remove dishonesty from your mouth. Put deceptive speech far
away from your lips.
Honesty is one of
the Bible’s themes. God warns us to not lie, bear false witness, gossip,
fabricate, circulate bogus tales et al. Scripture
explains the reasons why we should do so; the exercise of truthfulness pleases
God and we live healthier lives.
I thought about
this as I read the OWH during morning pills and cereal. There on the front page
was news of the recent killer spider stories being hoax and that USA big increase
in STDs since 2013 is a fact. (Syphilis up 76%, gonorrhea up 67%, Chlamydia up
1.7M from 1.4M.)
In one of my
employee classes on ethics they posed the question as to what were we quickest
to “forward” or “share” and that we can tell much about ourselves by the
answer. God speaks to our hearts in many places outside of church! Even while
writing or reading a page such as this one?
